The Delaware Forest Service sponsors an annual Arbor Day School Poster Contest for Delaware schoolchildren in kindergarten through fifth grade for all public, private, home and charter schools.

Jasmin Malik of Richard Shields Elementary in Lewes was the Sussex County winner for the first- and second-grade division. As a winner, Malik received a tree planting at her school, a gift card, a tree-themed book and an invitation for her and their family to attend the State Arbor Day event with Gov. Jack Markell May 12.
